For this design, we wanted to represent the intimacies sprouted from reading books that deeply reflect who we are. We also wanted to capture that magical feeling we get when we read in community with those who understand our multitude of experiences, realities, and histories. For us, literature gives language to inarticulable emotions, tells our stories, and creates spaces to house us so we can exist in our complexities and multiplicities. In doing so, we are able to form coalitions with the text, authors, characters, and other readers to build new worlds together.

While we are currently operating as a book club, in the future, we are excited to launch a monthly book box featuring literary works written by WOC and gender non-conforming people of color. However, in order to do so, we need to raise money! We are entirely volunteer-run—all by WOC recent college graduates. We’ve been working completely out of pocket all while applying non-stop for full-time jobs, attending grad school, and paying off student loans. We are broke, y’all! All the profits made from this merch campaign will go towards the start-up costs for launching our monthly book box.
